Hello, my name's Jaxson Payne and I make electronic based musical compositions.
Over the years I've become less and less interested in conventional music making and generally find conventional recording methods uninspiring. Instead, I'm far more exited by sound itself and the manipulation and placing of sounds. Also by concepts that ultimately get translated into musical representations. |

The musical projects I create generally consist of short compositions placed in a sequence to make one large piece. It is preferable to listen to the entire piece uninterrupted to fully absorb it's atmosphere and mood. |

I take carefully considered sounds from old (and sometimes newer) recordings. Often from vocal, chorus. I play with the pitch, direction, alter the sense of space/confinement. After treatment the sounds get re-shaped by filters, repetition, volume control and morphed into a strange yet familiar new narrative. Additional instruments are then recorded alongside field recordings and other noise that all gets put through it's own process before being carefully eased, comfortably into place. Each project tends to play upon a certain theme. Thoughtfully contemplated and researched from places, people, events and memories. These originating elements group and play in my head long before I begin to record anything. By the time I start composing/recording (usually a combined process) these starting points have become blurred and enriched by my own imagination and nostalgia. When translated into sound, my tainted thought process is presented as a dreamy sequence of fragmented events and filtered memories, intent on stimulating the visual senses of the mind. I usually aim for an atmosphere of gentle warmth and gracefulness in my music, that is never too far from an underlying darker and altogether sadder, lonelier presence. |
